A workshop on e-government was held at the E-Government Training and Education Center with the view of educating youth on e-government. The workshop, held with the support of the Data Processing Center, was organized for the member organizations of the National Council of Youth Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The participants were provided with detailed information on the E-government portal and government electronic services.

Speaking at the workshop, acting director of the E-Government Training and Education Center Rauf Jabbarov stressed the importance of informing citizens about the work done in the direction of building e-government. The speaker also said that the process of development at the public level directly depends on the use of electronic services.

Then, e-services  “Registration of labor contract notifications and providing information to employer about it”, “Proof of employment”, “Providing information to the insured” provided by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population and  e-services  “Online payment of  communication services and public utilities”, “Registration of mobile devices”, “POÇTAP - searching for lost documents” provided by the  Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies  were demonstrated to the participants and reference documents were tested through the portal.

The attendees were provided with information on e-document and e-signature, including the types and application areas of electronic signature during the next session of the workshop.  The participants were shown how to use e-signature in practice. E-signing procedure was clearly demonstrated to the attendees. It was noted that citizens prefer to use e-signatures presented in the form of USB-Tokens because they are more convenient for use and carrying. It was also noted that demand for signature certificates in card carriers is growing because most citizens use such card readers for reading other smart cards.

Proposals on development of the electronic environment were also made at the workshop, which continued with discussions. In the end, the participants were given username and password for access to the E-government portal.
