Employee of Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies came in 4th in Ganja Marathon 2017

Turkay Zergerli, the employee of the Data Processing Center of the Ministry of Transport, Communications  and High Technologies  also participated in the Ganja Marathon 2017  held on September 17, under the slogans “ Write History with your Willpower”  “ Join us in the Marathon” which was organized  at  the initiative of Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

The  marathon, which started at 10:00 in front of Triumphal  Arch  in Heydar Aliyev Park Complex in Ganja city, covered a distance of 17 kilometers.

                                                                                                                                                     

More than 11,000  runners  competed  in the marathon. Ukrainian citizen Valentina Poltavska came first among women, Azerbaijani citizen Anna Yusipova  came second and UK citizen Natasha Petersen came  third. Turkay Zergerli, an employee of the Data Processing Center came in fourth.

It should be noted that  until now, “Baku Marathon” was organized in Baku in 2016 and 2017 under the slogan “Win the wind!” at  the initiative of Heydar Aliyev Foundation . In total, more than 20,000 people from Azerbaijan and other countries participated in the marathons. Given the great interest among residents of regions in the marathons, it was decided  to organize such a race in Ganja city.

It will be recalled that the employee of the Data Processing Center Turkay Zergerli was the winner of the Republican Sports Games “Saghlamlig  2016”  in the track and field athletics competition among communications workers . She overcame a distance of 21 km in one hour 50 minutes and became 30th among women in the “Baku Marathon 2017”  held on April 30 this year.

It should be noted that so far, such marathons have been organized in London, Paris, Boston, New York, Chicago, Berlin, Barcelona, Istanbul and other cities.
