Data Processing Center (DPC) of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies (MTCHT) held a meeting on “Open government data”. The meeting was attended by representatives of all structures of MTCHT. A number of issues such as Open Government Data portal, open data, mobile applications developed on this data, their benefit to the world economy, as well as increasing the number of open data on the portal were discussed at the meeting.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Director of Data Processing Center Elchin Aliyev said that open data is a new stage of development in the building of E-government. Open Government Data portal (www.data.gov.az ), created by internal resources of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies , was launched two years ago, and 25 different types of data are currently available on the portal.
In his speech, DPC chief specialist Nadir Rasulov said that the goal is to increase the number of open data on the Open Government Data portal. To this end, it is required to convert the data of public importance from all the structures of the ministry within their powers into readable format by using a computer program and place them on the government portal. Nadir Rasulov said that the issue of what kind of data will be made available is within the competence of each organization, but the format of the data must comply with the technical requirements specified.
Then, head of Marketing Department Jeyhun Mammadov delivered a presentation on the portal Open Government Data, provided detailed information on open government, open data, and open services. It was noted that support to entrepreneurs, development of start-ups and civil society are main directions of open government data. To this end, everyone should take the initiative to ensure the placement of relevant information about their organization on the portal Open Government Data, as well as contribute to the development of this area.
Head of New Technologies Department of DPC Jamshid Nakhchivanski gave detailed information on making government data available and technical issues relating to the portal .
