Conference on Safer Internet Day held

Safer Internet Day (SID) started as an initiative of the EU Safe Borders project in 2004 and is now celebrated in more than 130 countries worldwide. The main goal of this day, which is celebrated every year on the second Tuesday of February, is enhancing of cooperation between all parties representing civil society, state and private organizations with a view to creating a better and safer internet.

This year’s International Safer Internet Day was celebrated on February 6 under the slogan “Create, connect and share respect: A better internet starts with you”.

A series of events dedicated to the Safer Internet Day are also organized in our country every year. Conference on Safer Internet Day 2018 was co-organized  by Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University and the Electronic Government Education and  Training Center with the support  of  the Ministry of Transport, Communications  and High Technologies. The conference was attended by teaching staff of higher education institutions, representatives of state bodies, non-governmental organizations, as well as information security specialists.

Speaking at the event, Rector of Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University Mustafa Babanli stressed the importance of internet security.

In his speech, Deputy Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Elmir Velizade  spoke about the impact of safe internet on the development of information society and the work done in our country in this regard.

Acting Director of the Electronic Government Education and Training Center Rauf Jabbarov spoke about personnel training and modern professions.



Addressing the event, well-known experts from other state agencies, non-governmental organizations delivered presentations on the importance of personal data protection on the internet, the impact of modern technologies on information security and international trends. The students participating in the conference also voiced their opinions on various aspects of safe internet.
